Messing about with the video settings sometimes leaves the game zoomed in on the menu options too much. Below is a sample picture of this problem. The real problem with this is that when you open up the Options tab, it doesn't allow you to actually go to Video Options to change it back.

Here's how you fix the problem. Right-click on Half-Life in your Steam library. Go to Properties. Click Set Launch Options Type in: -window -width -height Click OK. Now run Half-Life. Then try changing the settings in the game options. If that does not work. You can force the game to start with the correct options you want to use in "set launch options". Change the command in the lauch option for what you want to udr.
