The future is bright for students who embrace robotics and advanced manufacturingtechnologies. Now more than ever, companies use robots and CNC technologies to maximize productivity and gain a competitive edge. In today's market; however, many struggle to find qualified workers with the right technology skills. So I foolishly hit the reset button on my mill mid-toolchange makino FNC, fanuc omc. I pressed the mechanical releases on the toolchange arm and have safely removed the tools from the arm, but now I need to send the arm back to home position in order to reset the toolchanger.
Is there some sort of atc interlock button or manual override I need to press on the control in order to make these buttons respond? Is there a special mode to make these buttons respond or another way to home the toolchanger?
I would really appreciate any help. Of course none of us ever has time for a machine to be down, and my situation is no exception. On the upside, there are no mechanical or electrical issues, I just don't know the proper key sequence to manually home the toolchanger.
Are you happy to consideer long shots? I'm not familiar with that machine, but a couple of things that bring that undone are Z axis at toolchange height, and the spindle being at orient. Hope you get it sorted soon. Regards Phil. Is there an interlock release button like the Okumas have? Maybe it's an M code? Do you have your manuals? How about turning the control off and restarting it. This has worked on our 18mc. Don't know if your control would have these or not.
And one trick that I used to have to do sometimes to get the codes to work was a manual spindle orientation before attempting to use these M codes. Why not just call Makino? Should be a quick fix with a little phone tech. They are a big company, I would think someone there knows this machine. I had this issue with a kitamura, solved it in 5 minutes with a phone call.
Oh wait, Makino charges for phone support! Truthfully, I can't help you and I hope someone has an answer for you. It's just a joke to me that Makino charges for even basic phone support. It's one thing to walk you thru a nightmare, but basic stuff should be free. I don't know that particular machine but usually you have to get on top of the machine and manually turn the toolchanger arm motor to make the arm go back up. Sometimes issuing another M6 will complete the cycle.
